COP28 – Serene’s Synopsis 59
COP28, or the 28th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, lasted from November 30 to December 12 of 2023, and united many powerful nations in the overwhelmingly important discussion of climate change and its essential solutions. This event addresses the climate crisis and the current global shortcomings of combating it.
At COP28, CATF asserted that a wide range of strategies to fight climate change are essential, because it’s not reasonable or practical to rely on single methods to solve such a massive problem. This is exaggerated by the varying environments in different regions, meaning that some solutions are more effective in some places than others. They also emphasized how important it is to hold powers accountable for their commitments and responsibilities. This conference is where the leaders of governments all over Earth are able to confront climate change and discuss solutions. They must stress what options are the most efficient and what has not been working in order to accordingly plan for the future.
I’ve been receiving emails from CATF, and when they covered COP28, I was shocked that I hadn’t heard much about it before. I’m excited to read more about COP28, CATF’s role in the movement, and the progression of nuclear energy, which seems to have been a focal point of COP28. I’m really excited for these upcoming Synopses, so stay turned to learn with me!
